Suddenly, Molly heard the front door squeak open. “Mom?” Molly yelled, stepping out into the hall. “Mr. Intihar? Is that you?”

There was no answer. The loose floorboard in the front hall creaked. Pen wrapped her hand around Molly’s arm and then grabbed her sister’s hand. “I’m scared,” she whispered.

Finn peeked out into the hallway. “What’s going on?” he blurted out. “Why are you holding hands like that?”

“I think someone’s in the house,” Molly whispered back. She clutched Penelope’s hand tightly in her own, trying to keep her sister’s imagination from running wild and making this whole situation worse.

“Gramps is down there,” Finn said. “Doing dishes.”

“Gramps is out on the back deck with Gran. And we’re pretty sure we just heard someone open the front door.” Penelope began to shake. In the next instant, all three Quirk kids were wearing battle gear. Metal chest plates, shields, and Star Wars Stormtrooper helmets popped out of thin air and landed on their bodies.
